THE CHRONICLES OF MANIMAL AND SAMARA

'COUNT THE DEAD'

NEW SINGLE  | OUT 8 OCTOBER 2021

NEW TCOMAS LOGO

Check out the new TCOMAS logo! We looked back into the long history of the written word for inspiration. The characters are based on the runic alphabet - a derivation of the Old Italic scripts of antiquity. Dating from as early as 150 AD, the characters were replaced by the Latin alphabet as the cultures that had used runes underwent Christianisation.

The runic alphabet was first developed by the early Germanic tribes (Elder Futhark), and then adopted as a writing later by the Vikings in Scandinavia (Younger Futhark) and the Anglo-Saxons in Britain (Futhorc).

In addition to representing words phonetically, runes can be used to represent the concepts after which they are named (ideographs). Vikings used runes to express both the poetic and the plain, inscribing them on everything from great stone monuments to common household items. The Old Norse word Rún means "secret", and runes were thought of by Vikings as sacred secrets, and a way of interacting with both the living and the spirit world.

Flowing through the blood in our veins, is the past throughout human history. Times change, values and customs change, so does man’s world view. But these early symbols still provide us with receptacles to be refilled with new meaning.

THE Chronicles of Manimal and Samara

'FULL SPECTRUm'

 Debut Album | OUT NOW

ABOUT THE ALBUM

Comprising 11 tracks lasting over 67 minutes long, The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara recorded their debut album 'Full Spectrum' between February and June of 2020 at the artists' home studio in Camden Town during the first London Lockdown. The album sweeps across the wide spectrum of music genres – from progressive rock to techno, metal to ambient and electronic, and back to rock, a reflection and affirmation of the musical ingenuity and lyrical virtuosity of The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara.

The songs are arranged in a way that it takes listeners through the Full Spectrum of human experience and emotion. Each song is a complete experience on its own, each blending different influences and styles, while also continuing and building upon the meaning and message presented in the previous.

Epic, ambitious, yet cohesive as a whole, 'Full Spectrum' traverses dystopia and utopian worlds, balancing dark and grim reminders of human mortality with triumphant moments of hope and individual agency, opening up avenues for listeners to escape beyond the crisis and harsh realities of the current times – into the sphere of the transcendent and the numinous.
